What do you think about the format / player for this video?

Instead of embedding a video from YouTube (or another system), I converted the video to flash and am using amazon s3 to host the video (and ezs3 for the uploading/player). Still futzing with the right flash file size/specs.

Great video! Very encouraging and I love Amazon S3 and ezs3 is a great service.

There's a fine line b/t asking an expert to be a speaker & using them for their list. That's the thing we need to be careful of when we ask people to speak at our stuff!

When people talk to me about producing videos I often try to get them to keep it from thirty seconds to a minute tops. You are entertaining all they way through five minutes :). Do longer videos! And thank you on this one. It's been a tiring year on twitter as I go through the DM's just looking for one real one. I think I liked this one better than Goals sucked too, and that one was an Oscar quality subject and delivery.

Thank you John! The thing is, a video should be as long as it needs to be. And ... people need to have the energy to carry the video (also true for audio) ... when we produce audio/video content, we have to be *entertaining* to carry the listener/viewer. I consciously get myself pumped up before I do videos, and usually stand when I record audios.

Elizabeth, you crack me up! Well said and how fancy schmancy of you to use the A3! You've just laid out a valuable roadmap for building a relationship online. One more tip, visiting the blog of your "target" if they have one and leaving a great comment, not just a attaboy, but adding value to their space for their readers. You've inspired me to go stalk some speakers I want to seduce. Keep up the good work!

Agreed, I will also subscribe to their blog & comment a few times (or regularly, if the topic particularly resonates with me) with *substantive* comments. And, even ask a question, to see if I can get them to respond/reply to my comment on their blog.

I work with a lot of couples and I just LOVE this. Fun and very true way to look at courtship of any type!

These are such great tips, Elizabeth! I literally laughed out loud when you gave the example of people approaching you with "do you have any ideas on how we can work together?"! Oh my LANDS! That question is usually an indicator to me of who would be the one doing all the legwork in a new partnership! Nothankyouplease.

This is so true. I can confirm this in both ways, pitching and receiving.
On the website side, since I removed my website in my twitter the replies started to slowdown. if you don't have anything to show up, people just don't show any interest.

By the way I like the video format looks better than youtube.

PS: A lot of movement, since I started to write this comment, I saw like 100 replies in your twitter widget :)

That is such good advice to anyone starting on Twitter. I really had no clue what that was about when I started. Actually in Twitter I still feel like my mom on Facebook - in it, but dunno what the heck I'm supposed to be doing there...

Flash propably solves the Youtube issue. I was planning on clicking the autoshare on there, but wanted to ask you first that was it how that autoposting started on your FB page?

Thanks for letting me know Tom, not quite sure why. Maybe only youtube shows up in google reader (wouldn't surprise me since google owns youtube and has every incentive to break videos that are not using their system). I'll have to add language re clicking through to see the video, or something.

Yeah I have a feeling it has something to do with the coding... b/c in Jonathan Fields last post- http://bit.ly/2RMuj9 he used Viddler and it showed up... yet Gary V also uses it and it doesn't appear.

You make some very good points in your video. All common sense really if you think about it.
I am starting a new review site and when I first started pitching to companies to sponor it I just asked them would they like to sponsor, and got no response. When started telling them whatthey could get out of it, I started getting a response back from them. I have also been emailing some others that have not responded yet just to keep them updated with what is going on, Got one response that way so far.

And you are so right, sometimes people lack common sense in how they approach a person on line. I mean would you pick up the phone and pitch someone the same way? Never.

Great info as always. It is really amazing how people pitch online without any previous interaction. You got it so right -- it's all about seduction. Amazing how once online, often times people's basic common sense goes out the window! Say hi first, ask how I'm doing, if they can buy me a drink, have some great conversation, let's get to know each other a bit first -- then come at me with your pitch.

I love your videos Elizabeth! This one is no exception. I especially liked the analogy to dating, it's SO true too! And honestly, social media makes "making friends/seducing" so much easier, that there's really no reason to try to close the sale immediately. :)

Elizabeth, you are so funny and right on. Actually the video might be less funny if the "JV folks" out there weren't so clueless like you mentioned. It actually took a long time for me to load the video, I almost went to look for it on youtube, but the issue is most likely some strange issue with my computer, so my feedback on the format may not be the most accurate.

I totally love and agree what you have just said. I was @russellbrunson seminar this past week. He said the same thing (and he makes millions$!) He says like you. Its all in the relationship. Its all in the dance. My 14 year old son says that not only is biz about relationships but all of life is. Very wise for his age. We want to do bix and live life with people we like and live not just any Tom, Dick or Harry. Unless, that is your name and I really do like you :)

Very insightful video. What we learned from your video is that prompting someone for action is very similar to courtship and our fundamentals in courtship should first taken care of, helping the other person first and only then, if needed, asking the other person for help. Valuable video. Thanks !

ha ha, you said getting some ;-) Great tips Elizabeth! I think I first came across your content and connected with you on Twitter back in October so I missed this post (just saw the link to this on Facebook). You made some great points and when there's really no relationship, there is no trust.

There's the old principle, "People buy from those they know, like, and trust." Same thing works with getting people to share something, work with you, etc...I could promise you 50% of a $997 sale but if you've got no idea who I am, you're not sure if you like me (that is, unless I just spammed you), and no trust is there, you could care less about the cash because there's plenty of other things you could promote from people you already know!

By the way, I thought you were easily seduced by dark chocolate? I guess if I ever want to get you to share something, I'll Fedex a box over to you ASAP ;-)

I like that this type of video is clean and focused, keeps the person viewing it on your site. Whenever someone clicks through to YouTube, there is much opportuntity to get distracted with other videos by other people.
