I have known my bestest best friends since so many years, that it was before I even had a PC But texting, twittering, facebooking keeps you connected in ways that arent possible by phone (I cant just go call US, Germany and Japan to say: Crap, I hate monday mornings. But I can tweet it, and they read it and reply!) And I have gone through times where just noone around seemed to care for the same things I do, and on the internet the world is so small: There I found someone. Which I think is awesome.

Be yourself, have fun, tell them what you think, and discuss their thoughts – Someone will hear it and think the same

I don't have my own business (yet?! and just started tweeting a couple of weeks ago. But I can see that the engaging with people that have the same interests can make a big difference

This post is just what I needed as I am the gatekeeper of a networking site and a community site which I started nearly a year ago. So I understand the message about building relationships with my community but I had never thought of sharing much more of myself as I thought that they are more interested in what they can get from the group. I never thought that this process could be a 2-way one or that they might even be that interested in what challenges I face as they may only want to hear the good bits!! It is a refreshing place to be when I can think that sharing myself and my experiences good and bad could be of value for my groups.

Thanks for this post it has given me another perspective for me to think about when communicating with my members.
