Last week I went to my Mastermind group meeting, headed by Alexandria Brown — here’s a photo of the two of us in sunny Palm Springs. I absolutely love this group of smart, powerful women, all on the same path to doing amazing things in their line of work. Here’s my top take-aways from my 45 minutes in the "hot seat" and all the informal discussions before and after the meeting.
- I’m not alone, even when I feel alone. Sometimes I really do feel like a alien. Especially since I run my business and life much different than my professional (lawyer, doctor, accountant, engineer) and small business friends. My mastermind colleagues, even though we are spread all over the hemisphere, are on a similar path and are there to provide support for challenges that others may find hard to understand.
- People will pay money to listen to me. I had not been planning to do any live events, mostly because it did not occur to me that people will spend bucks to fly in and listen to me talk for 3 days. I find that what I advise people seems obvious to me, but other people actually find it to be valuable!
- I need to create a big payoff. I need to think about my big program or event where I will eventually make a large amount of money — this may be a high-end mastermind program, a live event, or a bootcamp — but something where I can make thousands of bucks in one sitting. Otherwise, what’s the point of all this work?
- I must celebrate my success. I don’t always feel like I have already achieved anything. I have a book manuscript, but since I have not seen the printed book yet, it does not seem real. I must celebrate each step of the process, to keep myself motivated and acknowledge how far I have come.
