If It's Not Hell Yes, It's Hell No.
I've been working on developing the next big program for Grow Up! Strategies, and was struggling. Ugh. It was a big, complicated continuity membership program, with tons of content, and since it has so many parts it was hard to explain. The marketing copy was difficult to write … and I had a ton of work to do generating all the content. None of it was getting done.
So I went to my Mastermind group meeting in Palm Springs to work with the other 18 group members on our businesses. As I was sitting there on the first day, I had a mini-revelation.
"If It's Not Hell Yes, It's Hell No."
Not sure who originally said that quote, but we discussed the idea that when you are making a decision to do something, if you don't feel great about doing it (or the end result you'll get from doing the thing you don't enjoy), then DON'T DO IT.
I thought about this program, and wondered, what am I doing this? I don't want to do it. And, no one had really asked me for it either.
That combines with another great idea – "Give Them What They Want."
Why was I designing a big complicated program? Why not just go to my list and create a solution for their #1 challenge?
So I immediately started designing a Cash Flow Coaching Program and a Cash Flow Bootcamp (teleclass series) to help small business owners with their cash flow challenges — the #1 question I get from my list. And it was easy to write the marketing copy. I already have some people interested, and I have not even officially launched the program yet.
So if you are struggling to put together a product or provide a service, ask yourself, why are you doing it? Perhaps it's hell no.
